The biggest difference: low sugar vs milkshake-style taste
OWYN is the stronger fit if your main goal is keeping sugar and calories low. Its current Smooth Vanilla bottle lists 4g sugar and 180 calories while still delivering 20g protein.
GROUNDED takes a different route. The Chocolate Protein Milkshake is a larger 16.6 fl oz carton with 20g protein, 23g sugar and 310 calories. It uses organic cane sugar rather than monk fruit, stevia or other high-intensity sweeteners, and it is formulated without gums.
In other words: OWYN is more nutrition-macro driven; GROUNDED is intentionally closer to a substantial chocolate milkshake.
Sweeteners and ingredients
OWYN's current Smooth Vanilla ingredients include organic cane sugar, monk fruit extract, guar gum and gellan gum. It also includes a greens blend of broccoli, spinach and kale.
GROUNDED's current Chocolate Protein Milkshake uses a coconut milk base, pea and organic sunflower protein, organic raw cane sugar, olive oil, cocoa, vanilla, citrus fibre and Himalayan salt. It contains no gums and no artificial sweeteners.
If you specifically avoid monk fruit or gums, GROUNDED is the clearer fit. If you prefer a much lower-sugar profile, OWYN has the advantage.
Allergen positioning
OWYN places a strong emphasis on allergen-conscious formulation. GROUNDED is dairy-free but contains coconut and is made in a facility that also handles milk, gluten and soy. If you have a food allergy, use the current package allergen statement rather than relying on a general dairy-free claim.
Which one makes more sense for you?
- Choose OWYN if: low sugar, fewer calories and allergen-conscious positioning are high priorities.
- Choose GROUNDED if: you want a larger, richer RTD with 20g protein and prefer to avoid monk fruit and gums.
Neither is trying to be exactly the same product. OWYN is a leaner protein shake; GROUNDED is a more substantial milkshake-style drink.
